HISTORY OF MARUTI AND SUZUKI • MARUTI UDHYOG LIMITED (MUL) established in 1981. • Actual production commenced in 1983 with Maruti 800. • Suzuki Alto Kei (only modern car at that time). • Competitors at that time was Hindustan Ambassador and Premier Padmini. • MarutiUdhyog limited was renamed as MarutiSuzuki india limited.(17thsept.2007)

  3. REASON FOR JOINT VENTURE For Maruti.... • Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company, is a global leader in mini and compact cars for three decades. • Suzuki’s technical superior. • Nearly 75,000 people are employed directly by Maruti Suzuki.

AFTER EFFECTS • The success of joint venture leds Suzuki to increase its equity from 26% to 40% in 1987. • Further 50% in 1992. • Company exports more than 50,000 cars annually and has an extremely large domestic market in India selling over 730,000 cars annually. • Sales Turnover -36299.74 (in crore). • Net profit -2288.64 (in crore).
