  2. 10. What field trips will my child take in 3rd grade? The Weinberg Center--“Sylvester & the Magic Pebble” (October 27, 2011) ESSL (April 19, 2012) The Frederick NewsPost/Keys Stadium/ Mount Olivet Cemetery (Spring, 2012)

  3. 9. What does a normal day look like? • Language Arts begins promptly at 8:30 • Social Studies & Science vary from day-to-day • Recess at 12:00 PRECEDES Lunch at 12:25 • Math begins at 1:15 & runs until dismissal

  4. 8. What is your behavior management plan? • Urbana’s Positive Behavior Support Matrix (Schoolwide Expectations!) • Tickets=Prizes from the Magic Hat for Individuals • Daily “House Cup” Tournaments for Tables to Earn “Star Student” Stickers • Behavior Puzzle=Class Reward on the “Wheel of Wow” • “STOPLIGHT” Cards to Track Individual Warnings & Think Sheets

  5. 7. How are you grouping the children to best address their educational needs? • Pre/Post-Assessments • Classroom Observations • Individual Interests • Flexibly! 

  6. 6. How much homework will be assigned and how much should I be involved in it’s completion? • Maximum of 30 minutes per night—this is very subjective! • Remember! Students can always read and practice math facts to fill the time. • Involvement…as little as possible! Notify me IMMEDIATELY if your child requires major assistance to complete assignments

  7. 5. What does my child need to remember weekly? • Homework Agendas are checked/stamped DAILY • KAZAAM Folders for transporting papers back & forth • Sneakers on P.E. days • Library books on Wednesdays

  8. 4. How can I get involved? • By donating MUCH NEEDED supplies such as • tissues, sanitizer, zipper bags, & disinfecting wipes! • As a Room Parent/Classroom Volunteer • As a Scholastic Book Order Liasion • As a Field Trip Chaperone • As a Guest Speaker • By assisting from Home 
