What is a Biome? • A biome is a major regional complex of similar communities. • It is recognized primarily by its dominant plant type and vegetation structure.
Tropical Rainforest • Found in Central America, South America, South East Asia, West Africa, and other tropical regions. • It’s characterized by year round rain and uniformly warm temperatures. • They have dark damp interiors, lush vegetation, and highly diverse biotic communities.
Tropical Dry Forest • Found in India, Africa, South America and Northern Australia. • They are warm year round, and rainfall is lower overall and highly seasonal. • They have wet and dry seasons that both span about have a year.
Tropical Grass Land • Also referred to as Savanna, found across stretches of Africa, South America, Australia, India, and other dry, tropical regions. • Precipitation usually arrives during distinct rainy seasons.
