  1. Computer Lab! Last Day of Fractals!

  2. Instructions! • Each fractal must include some sort of equation including area, volume, edges, or, vertices, etc. • Each fractal must include a chart relating the different iterations/stages to the equation, up to 7 steps. • Draw first 5 iterations for each fractal.

  3. Review of GSP Fractals • Click record on the script before you begin to construct on the sketch. • Construct original iteration you want to create (stage 0). • Mark the starting point as the center and dilate with what fraction you want to divide the orginial picture. (To mark a point as a center, double-click on it. The dilate tool is found under the transform menu) This action bisects, trisects, etc. the segment. • Next, use the rotate (10, 20, 90 degrees, etc.) function to create the first step into the design.

  4. Review of GSP Fractals cont. • Hide certain segments to see the picture you like! • Select starting point to iterate and click on your script that is recording the construction, and click "loop." • Go back to your sketch, and highlight points and again, loop. Do the same for each set of consecutive points (3rd and 4th, 4th and 5th, and 5th and 6th). • Then hide all the points except the original endpoints, and finally click "stop" on your script. • Now you have recorded a recursive script that will create your fractal!

  5. Creating you OWN Fractals! A little more free will!

  6. Be as creative as possible! • Ask for help! • Think about what equation to use before starting to create fractal. • Create charts and different iterations at the end.

  7. Create a fractal that: …iterates within itself i.e. Sierpinski Triangle.

  8. Examples:http://www.cojoweb.com/phi.html

  9. Create a fractal that: …divides and builds upon itself i.e. Koch curve or snowflake.

  10. Examples:http://www.mi.sanu.ac.yu/vismath/jaynew/index.html

  11. Create a fractal that: …involves rotations i.e. Dragon curve.
