  1. Radiation Sickness By: Liting Zou, Alberto Hernandez, Luis Cano, and Samantha Restrepo

  2. The Problem: • Cancer Related • Damage DNA • Offspring

  3. What is Radiation? • Radiation is the emission and propagation of energy in the form of waves, rays or particles. • Radiation release when atom start fission. • Average 1mGy per year

  4. How could you get radiation? 1 of many ways:

  5. Laws and Strategies • NRC limited amount of radiation that could be emitted by a nuclear facility • In 1957 the International Atomic Energy Agency was made to encourage peaceful applications of nuclear power • In 1963 The Partial Test Ban Treaty was made (restricted all bomb testing) • RECP provided compensation to all those that were affected by the radiation or that were ill

  6. Future Prediction • I think that radiation will continue to be exposed because more countries will test more bombs. • Medicine will be made to help people with radiation sickness. • If the medicine isn't made more people will die due to the cancer as an effect of cancer. • People will pass on their radiation to their offsprings and the next generation. • Still will affect people in the future because its still effecting as today.

  7. Any questions?
