  2. Funding through OELA Through a grant from the Federal Office of English Language Acquisition and in partnership with your school district, Edgewood College is excited to offer you this new professional development opportunity!

  3. Join your high school’s cohort team of teachers to: • Participate in a one-week summer institute (5 days) • Complete collaborative online modules • Share and learn with other school cohorts • Receive tuition support for graduate credit (6 credits upon completion)

  4. What the program offers you… • Professional development in socio-cultural theory, socio-linguistics, and culturally relevant curriculum paradigms. • Professional development in the theory and practice of ESL/Bilingual education as applied to your specific content area. (2009 cohort is Science or Social Studies.) • Six graduate credits, with full tuition support, upon completion of the project.

  5. What the program offers you… • Project coursework aligned with PDP and professional portfolio requirements. • Tuition support for participants who choose to continue coursework to receive their ESL or bilingual license. • Teachers who receive their ESL or bilingual license may continue coursework toward completion of a Master’s Degree. • Access to professional resources to support site team collaboration.

  6. Required commitment from you: • Participation in a five-day Summer Institute to be held July 22, 23, 24, 27, & 28. (Wed – Tues) • Participation in several day-long site team meetings at your school site during the school year with release time and sub paid for by the grant. • Attendance at three full Saturday face-to-face course meetings during the school year.

  7. Required commitment from you: • Completion of online modules in collaboration with other teachers working in your site team. These modules are part of your coursework during the school year. • Participation in a one-day summer “Share Fair” upon project completion in the Spring semester of 2010.

  11. 2009-2010 Cohort • Focus on Science and Social Studies content areas • July 22, 23, 24, 27, 28 is the summer institute • Several on-site release days to complete coursework during your school year • CTELL participants complete Ed 604A and 605B (6 credits total)

  12. Application process • CTELL application and letter of interest turned in to Rebecca Zambrano or Erin Teksten. • All CTELL participants must also apply to the graduate school. Those seeking professional development must complete only the “non-degree seeking” requirements.
