  3. Licensing Stationary Businesses Word Definitions: Stationary Business – The business operates from a fixed location at all times. Enforcement – To force obedience to a particular rule or law. Consumer – The user of a product or service (Customer) Regulating – Controlling By-Law - law of local city
  4. Licensing Stationary Businesses Summary: Licensing By-Law (1-2002) Businesses that operate from the same location require licenses issued by the Licensing Administration of City Clerks Office. Licenses are enforced by Licensing Enforcement Teams. These Teams protect consumers from businesses that do not follow the city's standards.
  5. Why to have a License for a Stationary Business? To Protect Consumers well being and interests. All Stationary Businesses are required to have insurance (Theft, Fire, Damage…) Restaurants and aesthetics business require Peel Health Department approvals. Public Halls, or other gathering locations require fire and emergency services approvals.
  6. How are these By-Laws Enforced? How are these By-Laws Enforced? Enforced by City’s Licensing Enforcement Team. Enforcement Team regulates and monitors the business operator to ensure they follow the rules of the By-Law. In addition to checking licensed operators, they bring unlicensed businesses up to standard to ensure they follow the by-law.

  8. Noise Complaints Word Definitions: Obscene language – Bad words, Swearing Disorderly conduct – Misbehavior Prosecution – Carrying on of Legal proceeding against a person Anonymous – Unidentified person Excessively – Passing a reasonable limit; alot
  9. Noise Complaints What Counts As Noise? Noise By-Law(93-84) explains that noise is a persistent, and recurring noise that occurs for more than 10 days. Situations such as a dog barking daily and excessively, someone playing loud music and daily construction happening before 7am and after 11pm.
  10. Noise Complaints How to Make a Noise Complaint? Call 311 or email enforecement@brampton.ca for an information package. Or Visit www.brampton.ca/bylaws Information Package Includes Noise Complaint Record which needs to be filled out for 14 days. This includes dates, times, and type of noise. Anonymous information is not accepted. Sender Information is not disclosed unless prosecution is required. Once the form is submitted. An officer will call to review possible solutions, or inform that charges may be laid.
