My Middle Life (Cont.) • I was taken of my political positions from 1679 to 1681. • This was because of the Test Act which removed Catholics from politics. • I then went into exile again. • In 1682 I returned to England.
What I Did for the Colony • I lead the capturing of New Amsterdam from the Dutch in 1644. • The colony was later on named New York after me.
My Late Life • I withdrew from my position of Duke of York and Duke of Albany in 1685. • I was king of England, Scotland, and Ireland in 1685. • I was taken away from those positions in 1688 because of the Glorious Revolution. • I fled to France. • This is where I spent the rest of my life.

Other Interesting Facts About Me • My body was not buried. • It was laid in a coffin in the Chapel of Saint Edmund. • Some of my body parts were extracted and sent throughout the world when I died. • Though all of this was desecrated in the French Revolutionby mobs. • Though part of my body was found in the parish church of Saint Germain-en-Laye in 1824. • It is still there today.
