  1. Technology Access for Substitute Employees September 14, 2010

  2. Substitute Technology Access • Effective on or about October 1, existing substitute teachers will gain access to several Technology resources necessary to conduct classroom lessons with students. • New substitute teachers will receive access as part of their initial training after October 1.

  3. Substitute Teachers • Have received a mailout from HRS with a brochure and AUP to return by October 1. • If AUP is not returned, substitute will be inactivated. • Substitute will also receive a Technology handout at the schools with step by step instructions on logging onto Tech resources and a web portal so subs can get their own login ID information. • New substitutes will receive this information during their initial training with HRS.

  4. Campus Teachers • Please work with campus instructional staff to ensure that all technology resources are available to substitutes so that they may implement a successful lesson with students. • Please make sure that any technology related lesson plans are reasonable for the substitute to implement. • Substitutes will NOT have access to e-attendance resources.

  5. Technology Facilitators • David Oestreicher has discussed these processes with the Tech Facilitators and they are aware of the implementation plan and their supporting role. • Facilitators will answer campus substitutes about logging in, hardware and software issues and troubleshoot problems.

  6. Campus Administrators • Closely monitor technology usage by substitutes. • We will post on forms and documents the Technology one page handout and brochure and letter to substitutes as well as this power point. • Substitute technology access will NOT include e-attendance. Please continue to use the regular substitute process for this. • Please make sure your staff provides reasonable technology lessons to substitutes. Proficiency levels will vary so please make sure we do not set the students nor substitute employees up to fail.

  7. Technology Questions • David Oestreicher is the contact for this project through October 1. His contact number is 972.350.1803. • Technology Facilitators will field campus related substitute questions after October 1. • If substitute is not on campus after October 1 and has a technology related question, they need to contact the Help Desk at 972.350.1833.

  8. HRS Questions • Please forward any HRS related questions concerning this process to David Orr or Amanda Carrasco at 972.355.2772.
