  1. What is a USB (Flash, Jump) Drive? A type of portable drive that stores and transfers data located on a computer. It works in a similar way to a floppy disk. It enables the user to read, write, copy, delete, and move data from the USB drive to a computer and back again. A USB drive does not require any type of software installation. All that is required is a USB port. (All modern computers have them). A USB drive may also be referred to as a jump drive, thumb drive, pin drive, or pen drive.

  3. How Do I Use a USB Drive? Just plug your USB drive into the USB port of your computer. Drag the files that you want to take with you into the folder that appears on the screen. Your files will instantly be transferred to your USB drive. To transfer the items from your USB drive to a computer, plug your USB drive into the computer that you want your files transferred to, open the folder that appears on your screen and drag the desired file onto your computer’s desktop. If you are transferring a large number of files it will helpful to make a blank folder on your desktop. This way transferred files can be organized without cluttering up your desktop.
