It is frequentlyused inthe manufacturingofsteelstructures,bridges,machinery,equipment,andotherinfrastructure. Ontheotherhand,alloysteel isavarietythathascarbontogetherwithoneormorealloying elements,whicharetypicallyothermetals likemanganese,chromium,andnickel.Axles, shafts,andgearsareexamplesofhigh-strengthcomponentsthatfrequentlyusealloysteel. Choosingsteel isadifficulttaskwhenproducingCNCmachinedpartsandcomponents.This article willgooverthedifferencesbetweenalloyandcarbonsteelaswellas itskinds,uses, alloyingcomponents,andqualities.Thiswillassistyou inselectingtheidealsteelforyour projectandobtainingthebestcomponentsandfinished goods. Type of Alloy Steel: •High-AlloySteel: Itsalloyingelementcontent ishigh.Withup to12%chromium,stainless steel is themostpopularkindofhigh alloysteel.Thelatentlayer is thethin oxidecoatingof chromiumthatformsoutsideofthesteel.Extendedprotectionagainsterosionisprovided bythehighconcentrationofchromium.Compared tolow-alloysteel,thiskindofalloy is slightlymoreexpensive.As aresult, it istypicallyutilizedinindustrialandautomotive equipment. •Low-AlloySteel:Thistypeofsteelcontainsfeweralloyingcomponents,oftenbetween 1 and 5percent.Dependingonthealloy,thissteelhasvaryingstrengthsanduses. Furthermore,thiskindofalloy isused inlarge-diameterflanges toobtainparticular mechanicalqualities.As aresult,lowalloysteelcanbeusedformanydifferentapplications acrossnumerousindustries,includingseamlessrolled ringforgingandstuddingoutlet manufacture. •ToolSteel:Toolsteel isanalloysteelspecificallydesignedforuse intoolmanufacturing.
