  1. Food for Thought… • Any thoughts on the tree branch and how it relates to last weeks lesson? • How does Garden of Eden in Adam’s day compare to the most beautiful Garden’s that we can cultivate today?

  2. God Made Eve

  3. Review • For whom did God make the Garden of Eden? Why? • What did God say would happen to Adam if he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil? • When God said, “You will surely die” to Adam, what did this death mean?

  4. Introduction • Last Week: • God placed Adam in the Garden to work it and take care of it. • God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If Adam did eat from this tree, he would surely die.

  5. God Made Eve • What does the world have to say about marriage, either by speech or by action? • The world’s view differs from God’s view. • We’ll see that God instituted marriage from the very beginning, not man! • Let’s take a look at the roles…

  6. God Made Eve • Read Genesis 2:18 • Who saw that man was alone? • Who decided man should not be alone? • Did man recognize his aloneness yet? • Why didn’t God ask Adam what he thought or wanted?

  7. God Made Eve • God loved Adam and wanted him to be complete. • Notice in verse 18 where the Lord God said, “It is not good…” What have we seen up to this point in terms of the word “good?”

  8. God Made Eve • When God recognized that something was “NOT GOOD,” He did something about it! • What did God do to fix the situation?

  9. God Made Eve God knows ahead of time what our needs will be and He knows the best way to meet those needs.

  10. God Made Eve • Read Genesis 2:19, 20 • God gave man the intellectual task of naming all the animals. • Do you think God had another purpose in mind in having Adam name the animals? • What were the differences between the creation of animals and the creation of Adam?

  11. God Made Eve • Adam needed someone with whom he could talk and do the same things that he could do. • Adam needed someone more like himself. • Adam needed a help mate!

  12. God Made Eve • What could man do to provide himself a suitable helper? • What could the angels do to make a suitable helper for Adam? • Who was the only one that could provide for Adam? • MAN NEEDS GOD FOR EVERYTHING!!

  13. Check for Understanding • Does God really know about all your needs? Explain. • Does God really care about all your needs? Why? • How did God make Adam aware of his need for companionship? How doe God make us aware of our needs?

  14. God Made Eve • Read Genesis 2:21, 22 • How did God meet Adam’s need? • What is the difference in thinking between the following statements: • God created woman to meet man’s needs. • God met man’s need by creating a woman. • Which of the two statements above is correct thinking?

  15. God Made Eve • Consider the following: • Eve was not like anything else Adam has seen nor was she made from dust like Adam. • Eve was formed by God using one of Adam’s ribs. How precious and close she must have been to Adam! • She also was made in the image of God!

  16. God Made Eve • Read Genesis 2:23, 24 • God made man and woman so they could mutually complete each other in marriage, have children, and represent the image of God! • How amazing all of this must have been for Adam and Eve.

  17. God Made Eve • Read James 1:17 • Who made Eve? What does that tell you about Eve? • Who made marriage? What does that tell you about marriage?

  18. God Made Eve • Read Genesis 2:25 • Adam and Eve were unaware of their nakedness, and they were totally unembarrassed. • In the Garden, they were experiencing good stuff!!

  19. Checking for Understanding • Who met man’s need of loneliness? • Why is marriage a “good” thing? • What is the significance of Adam and Eve not being embarrassed to be naked in front of each other?

  20. Conclusion • Life was perfect for Adam and Eve! • God gave them everything they needed. • He surrounded them with beauty and abundance far beyond their needs. • They could communicate with God and with each other. • God guided them, their work was not hard, and they had no sickness!! Life was gooood!!
