  1. Participants: CRPHT (1), LPMM(4) (Leader), RTU (6)Start: 4, End: 19Interaction: WP1,WP4,WP5,WP6 Short overview of WP2 Damped Composites Modelling CASSEMFebruary 28th 2005

  2. ObjectivesDevelopment of analytical and numerical methods to investigate linear and non linear vibration of damped (viscoelastic) sandwich and multilayered composite structures. CASSEMFebruary 28th 2005

  3. Description of workTask 2.1: Modelling of multilayered composites with viscoelastic layers (UM-LPMM, CRPHT)Task 2.2: Non linear vibrations of damped sandwich and laminated composites (LPMM,RTU)Task 2.3: Models validations (UM-LPMM, CRPHT, RTU) CASSEMFebruary 28th 2005

  4. Task 2.1 Modelling of multilayered composites with viscoelastic layers (UM-LPMM, CRPHT) Efficient analytical models and computational methods (finite element techniques) for damped composites with viscoelastic layer will be proposed by the following actions: - Based on known theories of laminated structures (Reddy, zig-zag, Touratier, …), several sandwich models will be established. - The developed models will be compared in order to obtain an efficient shell finite element that will be able to model accurately vibration problems of sandwich structures for various geometries and Materials. - A shell finite element of three layered sandwich structures will be developed and sandwich and laminated composites with viscoelastic layers will be modelled. CASSEMFebruary 28th2005

  5. Task 2.2 Non linear vibrations of damped sandwich and laminated composites (LPMM,RTU) Development of analytical and numerical methods to investigate non-linear vibration analysis of damped sandwich structures, particularly for complex geometries (i.e. arch, ring…) and to the dynamic analyses (free vibration, frequency and time response analyses) of structures made from frequency and temperature dependent viscoelastic materials. - Non-linear vibrations of sandwich structures, connected with the non-linear behaviour of viscoelastic core materials (RTU). - Non-linear vibrations of sandwich structures are related to the non-linear geometric effect (UM-LPMM). CASSEMFebruary 28th 2005

  6. Task 2.3 Models validations (UM-LPMM, CRPHT, RTU) All the developed analytical and numerical models will be validated on beam then plates. Important parameters such as resonance frequencies and damping ratios will be obtained from experiments and will be used to correct and validate the models. The validation experiment will be realized by WBI in close cooperation with UM-LPMM and RTU. CASSEMFebruary 28th 2005

  7. Deliverable Full report on the new theoretical and finite element models for damped composite structure, and on the analytical and numerical methods for non-linear vibration analysis and their validation. Interaction with other WPs - Some Inputs to this WP come from WP1. - Results and models of this WP can be used in the WP4 in uncertainties task, in WP5 (Optimization work package) and WP6 in order to make the most appropriate choice of the experiments to be conducted in particular for non-linear vibration of damped composites with viscoelastic layers.
