Tips for Registration • Follow the directions  • Parent/Student Registration Night is February 20th…..come! • Any locked course will need a form signed by a parent giving permission to change it. Return the form to your counselor before March 4th. • If you want to change a recommendation please discuss this with your current teacher….they know you best! • You have until March 4th to complete your registration. That includes changing your mind. • After March 4th you will need to wait until August when summer changes are permitted.

  3. English • You need English every year to equal 4 credits. Choices AP English Language and Composition Advanced English 11 CP English 11 English 11

  4. Social Studies • You need social studies every year to equal 4 credits. • AP US History • CP US History • US History In addition to a US History you may select any of the half year social studies, however if a senior needs the course to graduate you may be asked to drop the course. Business Law counts as social studies credit. Personal Finance does NOT.

  5. Science • You need three credits of science, preferably 4. • Advanced Chemistry 2 • Advanced Chemistry 1 • Chemistry 1 • Integrated Chemistry and Physics • Some of you will be taking a Physics course or other recommended science courses. • Note: Follow your teacher’s recommendation and check prerequisites.

  6. Mathematics • You need 3 credits of mathematics, preferably 4. • Advanced Hon Precalculus, Adv. Precalculus and Precalculus • Advanced Algebra 2, CP Algebra 2 (formally Algebra 2) • College Prep Math 3 • Foundations of Algebra Part 2 • Some of you may be recommended for a different math. Please talk with your teacher if you have questions.

  7. Physical Education • You need PE every year  Have you passed PE 9 and PE 10? If not, schedule it! • Select Physical Education- 4 times a week, you select every 4 ½ weeks. Fall or Spring. • Wake Up State High- only for Juniors and Seniors, meets from 7:00 am until 7:45 am 4 days a week. Fall or Spring. • Virtual Physical Education- You need to send the completed contract with payment before we will remove the course from your course selections.

  8. Health • You need two health courses to graduate. Have you taken and passed Health 1? If not, schedule it! • Junior Senior Wellness- 5 times a week.Fall or Spring. • Wake Up to Junior/Senior Wellness- only for Juniors and Seniors, meets from 7:10 am until 8:00 am 5 days a week. Fall only. • Virtual Health 2- You need to send the completed contract with payment before we will remove the course from your course selections.

  9. Drivers Education • You need this to graduate. • If you have not completed this course, schedule it! • Virtual Drivers Education- You need to send in the completed contract and payment. • See your counselor if you have any questions.

  10. Electives • Electives help you explore your interests. If you need help finding electives please meet with your counselor. • You need a total of 5.5 electives. • Remember, if you take a 4 th credit of math or scienceand you take a world language…..these all count towards your electives. You need 22.5 credits to graduate.

  11. Graduation Project and Community Service • During the next two years you will need to complete a graduation project. Talk to your Junior English, social studies and elective teachers. If you have questions see your counselor. • You will need to complete 20 hours of community service to graduate. Once you have completed any hours, complete a Community Service form found in the counseling office.

  12. World Languages • College Bound students need to complete the second level of the same language (2 years) for most colleges. • Colleges want to see a grade of a C or better. • Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Latin and Chinese are offered. • For Chinese you need to fill out an LE contract. It meets 5th period and you are allowed to eat lunch during class. Chinese 1, 2 and 3 are offered.

  13. Additional Considerations • PE and Jr/ Sr Wellness are locked in. To change the semester we can switch them for you today. If you want to drop one you must have a parent signature on the form. • World language issue-make sure you are passing with a C. • Any course that you receive a D or an E in can be taken over and your new grade will replace your old grade.

  14. New Courses and Changes • 3D Art is no longer a prerequisite for Jewelry Making. • Silk Screening and Etching are now called Printing. Drawing is a prerequisite. • Math name changes. Essentials of Algebra 1 will be called Algebra 1 and so on. Algebra 1 will be called College Prep Algebra 1 and so on. These changes will be made to your transcript at the end of the year.

  15. Transcript Check • You have received a copy of your transcript. The grades listed are the the cumulative grades from marking periods 1 and 2. • Please check your transcript for accuracy. Make sure your address is correct and that all of your courses are listed. • If there are corrections, please write the correction on your transcript and return it to your counselor.

  16. Schedule Time Line • February 4th- Students can see their recommendations and start to schedule classes for next year. We will start today. • February 20th at 6:30 in the South Building is the Parent Registration Night. Please come with your parents. • You have until March 4th to complete your registration. • End of July-Schedules will be on line and schedule changes may be submitted until August 9th.
