Problems • Funds in FP6 can be used only for international connectivity • We often hear from the EC that national connectivity in less developed countries and regions could be solved with structural funds • This is a national decision • In addition it seems that there are some rules imposed by EC which are not helpfull and not clear • Usage of funds only for public networks • Usage of funds only in most undeveloped regions (but there are no universities …)

  3. Proposal • To organise a meeting with EC people who are responsible for using structural funds in telecommunications area • Is this also an opportunity to exchange ideas how things could be done (are already done – e.g. Portugal, Greece) ? • In Brussels ? • Together with next NREN PC or early autumn ?
