  2. Holocaust defined • hol·o·caust  (hl-kôst, hl-)n. • 1. Great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire. • 2. The genocide of European Jews and others by the Nazis during World War II • 3. A sacrificial offering that is consumed entirely by flames.

What marked the *Final Solution? • Not dying quick enough in ghettos • *Systematic killing planned • *Concentration (extermination) camps • Transported via railway • Some lives were spared to work • “Showered” with cyanide gas (Zyklon B) • Up to 6,000 deaths per day • Medical experiments • Surgery practice, typhus fever…
