  5. Project Plan Outline • Week 5 (4/28 - 5/2)‏ • Conduct Usability testing with initial group of subjects. • Compile data • Create draft report detailing results • Week 6 (5/5 - 5/9) (Current week)‏ • Interim presentation of project • Incorporate changes into prototype • Week 7 (5/12 - 5/16)‏ • Conduct usability testing with second group of 6 Test customers • Week 8 (5/19 - 5/23)‏ • Compile data • Create Draft report for second round of testing

  6. Project Plan Outline • Week 9 (5/26 - 5/30)‏ • Incorporate changes into system from second round of testing • Write final report • Week 10 (6/2 - 6/6)‏ • Final presentation of project • Week 11 • 6/12 ICS Showcase • 6/13 SCE presentation

  7. Preliminary Test User Group Users consisted of: 2 female users in the 18-34 age group Both Own a Computer Both self identify as Power Users Frequent use of Internet Pay Bills Online

  8. Experimental Methodology Questionnaire: catalog demographic information. Task Instructions: Users instructed to perform information gathering tasks designed to determine ability to understand the interface. Screen recording: use of CamStudio Software to record on-screen actions. Concluding Questions: conducted as a one-on-one session with user. Experimenter asks questions verbally and notes user responses. Focuses on determining the overall affective response to the interface.

  9. Test Results (Positive)‏ Users were able to clearly and quickly identify functional areas when prompted. Users enjoyed color scheme of interface and graphics. The large font was preferred because of easy identification.

  10. Test Results (Negative)‏ Graph intervals are inconsistent and need better numbering. Users almost always chose lowest user management settings.

  11. Preliminary Conclusions‏ • Question session provided the most useful information for determining user reaction. • Difficult to determine if negative user reactions are due to UI status as a non-functional prototype. • Task list may be unnecessarily repetitive.

  12. First Revision Tasks • Create interactive prototype • Modify one-on-one user questions. • Incorporate suggested changes. • Expand number of questions. • Revise task instructions • reduce number of redundant fill-in tasks • Incorporate audio recording • ask user to verbalize thoughts as he/she performs tasks.
