  2. Quick Write: School Week/Year • In your composition notebook, write about either of the following. Use the entire time to write; if you finish, do a free write. • The pros and cons of year-round school • The pros and cons of a four-day school week

Objective, Agenda, & Homework • Objective: Students will revise their outlines by logically ordering their arguments and evidence to support their thesis. • Agenda: • Quick Write • Greek Roots 48-50 • Revising Outlines • Homework: • Study Greek roots for quiz on ELP. • Final drafts of topic proposal letter, bibliography, and outline are due Monday, March 17.

  4. Speeches • Remember that the speech this term is worth half of your grade. If you do not give your speech, you will automatically fail the semester with an Incomplete. • Because of this, you need to make sure you are here on your scheduled date next week. • Schedule will be ready on ELP. • Any volunteers to go first?

  5. Bibliographies from Yesterday • Since we could not use the computers as planned, I have decided that the annotated bibliography is now just a bibliography. • You will just cite your sources. • You do NOT have to write the annotated paragraphs. • Just be sure to put your heading and title on the paper and alphabetize your sources. • To log on at school, use the generic password. You will have to print at that time; you cannot save.

  7. Greek Roots 48-50 • Using the word lists I gave you last week, look up the part of speech and definition of TWO WORDS FOR EACH ROOT. Then, draw a visual. • Look up 2 words for neuro. • Look up 2 words for bio. • Look up 2 words for psych. • If you were not here last week, then look at the power point for those days on my website to get the 3 new roots with their meanings and word lists. • Quiz is Wednesday/Thursday!

  8. Revising Outlines • You have the rest of the period today to revise your outline; the final version is due Monday. You will be making your note cards tomorrow based off your outline, so get it done sooner rather than later. • Keep in mind: • The hook/lead should grab your audience and get them interested. • The thesis needs to be debatable, not factual. • You need to have 3 arguments/reasons, not facts. • They should be logically ordered. • Do not over-generalize your research. Give specific examples and refer to your sources. • You need 2+ each of logos, pathos, and ethos. (Label). • The call to action is what you want to make happen.
