STUDY GROUP 2QUESTIONS • Q 9-2/2: Identification of study topics in the ITU-T and ITU-R study groups which are of particular interest to developing countries • Question 10-1/2: Telecommunications for rural and remote areas
STUDY GROUP 2QUESTIONS (ctnd) • Question 11-2/2: Examination of terrestrial digital sound and television broadcasting technologies and systems, including cost/benefit analyses, interoperability of digital terrestrial systems with existing analogue networks, and methods of migration from analogue terrestrial techniques to digital techniques
STUDY GROUP 2QUESTIONS (ctnd) • Question 14-2/2: Telecommunications for e‑health • Question 17-2/2: Progress on activities for e‑services/applications in the world • Question 18-1/2: Implementation aspects of IMT-2000 and information-sharing on systems beyond IMT-2000 for developing countries
STUDY GROUP 2QUESTIONS (ctnd) • Question 19-1/2: Strategy for migration from existing networks to next-generation (NGN) for developing countries • Question 20-2/2: Examination of access technologies for broadband telecommunications
STUDY GROUP 2QUESTIONS (ctnd) • Question 22/2: Utilization of ICT for disaster management and active and passive space-based sensing systems as they apply to disaster prediction, detection and mitigation • Question 23/2: The unique telecommunication/ICT needs of small islands developing states
STUDY GROUP 2RESOLUTION 9 • Resolution 9 (Rev. Doha, 2006): Participation of countries, particularly developing countries, in spectrum management
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE • Member States • Sector Members • Associates
WORKING METHODS To facilitate their works, Study Groups may set up groups to deal with specific Questions • Rapporteur’s Groups • Other Groups like Joint Groups or Regional Groups when appropriate
WORKING GROUPS Rapporteur’s Groups • Presided by Rapporteurs, • This is the traditional way of dealing with questions • Resembles working parties in ITU’s Standardization and Radiocommunication sectors. • The budget is drawn from BDT’s Study Group budget
WORKING GROUPS(ctnd) Other Groups Such as joint Rapporteur Groups or Joint Groups, for example on Resolution 9 (Rev. Doha 2006) on spectrum management, or Regional Groups, as appropriate.
MEETINGS • Study Groups: five days per year each Study Group, normally in Geneva • Other Groups: normally once per year, plus once during the Study Group meetings • Cluster of meetings to facilitate and increase participation
OUTPUTS OF THE SG ACTIVITIES • Recommendations • Guidelines Available free of charge on the WEB
ADVANTAGE TO PARTICIPATE IN STUDY GROUPS • It is an easy way to contact developing countries for telecommunications and ICT projects • You will have your word to say in approving the reports/guidelines that will help developing countries to introduce new telecommunications/ICT equipments and services
