LOGISTICS • 2 computer rooms (L2&3) • Internet connection (possibility to allocate part of the bandwidth) • 2 international phone lines
some problems encountered • good communication with our testing consultant
all candidates advised totry BAT demo/ check examinee site • demo run simultaneously on multiple computers • the schedule for the speaking testschecked
BATSCHEDULE • initial plan – test all 18 candidates in one week • realization – 15 in one week, 3 later • suggestion – test candidates in small groups (cca 5 candidates at a time)
READING • 60 items – 20 per level, all MCQ, a separate text for each item • proctors should warn students about mandatory break after level 2 • problems: connection breakdowns
SPEAKING • 30 – 40 min interview • all candidates asked to come 15 minutes before the test • nations pay the costs of the call
LISTENING • connection breakdowns (minimized by scheduling the test at 7am) • positive students’ feedback regarding the mechanics of the test
WRITING • a 90 minute program • initial concerns about the essay (550 words in 25 minutes)
Advantages: • candidates can take the online test at any time • positive feedback on listening
Disadvantages: • computer/Internet problems • telephone interview
