  3. The ATS Connection • The Prevention Educator in each building is cross trained to assist the Social Learning Specialist in identifying and supporting student needs. • The Prevention Educator can push in to classrooms to address Aftercare/Student needs at grade levels other than 3-5.

  4. Objectives The goals of the GRAV program are to reduce violence in students’ lives by: • Giving students consistent, nonviolent messages • Changing violent norms • Promoting a developmental asset framework • Focusing on issues that students feel are relevant • Incorporating academic standards

  5. Target Population • Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 at each site. • These grade levels encompass challenging developmental milestones and have been shown to benefit from a multi session intervention like GRAV.

  6. Behaviors Addressed • Bullying • Teasing • Rumors/Gossip • Physical aggression • Social exclusion • Conflict resolution skill building

  8. Core Concept Something is Violent if:  • It is Hurtful • It is Done on Purpose  We can all do something to make our school and classroom a peaceful place!

  9. Program Delivery • Center staff requires 45 minutes per session. • A Needs Assessment is conducted with the classroom teacher. • Appropriate content area for the 4-6 sessions is determined by the Prevention Educator.

  11. Program Evaluation • Teacher Feedback • Student Pre/Post testing • Student Evaluations • Demonstrated Skills • Booster Session(s)

  12. Results 994 Youth Participated; 835 Evaluated 52 Classes were served • 99% (829) of 3rd-5th graders rated GRAV useful/relevant and demonstrated skills • 100% Demonstrated Knowledge/Attitude Change
