  3. Beta Club Background • The National Beta Club began as the dream of our founder, Dr. John W. Harris, a professor at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Since the first Beta Club was formed in Landrum, SC in 1934, The National Beta Club has become the nation's largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. We are committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, rewarding and nurturing worthy character, fostering leadership skills and encouraging service to others. • The National Beta Club has worked with over six million young people in grades 5-9 (Junior Beta Club) and grades 9-12 (Senior Beta Club). There are now more than 420,000 active members and more than 8,000 clubs nationally and internationally.

  4. What is Beta Club? • The Hillcrest High School Chapter of the National Beta Club gives high-achieving students an opportunity to serve their community. • Our Motto: "Let Us Lead By Serving Others."

Who can join Beta Club? • In order to join Hillcrest’s Senior Beta Club you are required to be in grades 10th through 12th. • To maintain membership in the Beta Club, one must maintain a 3.75 GPA. • You must exhibit the qualities of a good citizen. • You must complete 20 hours of community service per quarter. • Beta Club meetings should be attended regularly.
