Highlights Service Availability: • Market Operations IT systems met all SLA targets • Market Data Transparency IT systems met all SLA targets • Retail Market IT systems met all SLA targets • System maintenance of the Market Information System (MIS) database and applications to correct intermittent data posting errors to the public dashboards on ERCOT.com (8/10) • Components of MIS affected for up to 30 minutes from 10:30pm until 11:00pm • TML Report Explorer was unavailable for 50 minutes (8/23) and degraded for 100 minutes (8/24) • Find Transaction and Find ESIID were affected; users may have received “System Not Responding” • Enterprise Application Integration had to be restarted due to a configuration issue, which has now been fixed • ERCOT experienced system issues that prevented reports from being downloaded from the Market Information page on ERCOT.com (8/24) • Issue lasted for 159 minutes; the reports continued to be available through MIS ERCOT Public
Digital Certificates • Background • ERCOT’s digital certificate vendor has migrated public root certification to 2048-bit, which in turn requires all MP’s to utilize 2048-bit certificates. Digital certificates are required to access, download, submit, and query ERCOT systems. • Timeline and required action • No later than Sept 30th, Market Participants must update their certificates to 2048-bit • Market Operations Test Environment (MOTE) has been configured for testing • MP technical staff can follow 5 steps in the ERCOT SSL Communications Standards • After Oct 1st, all 1024-bit certs should be deleted from keystore, as they will no longer be of use • ERCOT will send market notices and brief numerous market participant forums
Browser Standard Timeline • ERCOT currently supports Internet Explorer 6 and 7 browsers • Other browsers are mostly, if not fully, compatible though not supported by ERCOT IT staff (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc) • ERCOT is planning to have all market facing applications compatible with Microsoft browser IE8 (Internet Explorer v8) by April 1, 2012 • The IE8 browser comes with the latest version of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Windows 7) and contains improved security features. • Prior to April 1st, 2012 ERCOT will publish a list of recommended IE8 browser configuration settings • ERCOT’s support for IE8 will allow Market Participants to upgrade their browsers anytime after the effective date • Any Market Participant that has a problem with IE8 after April 1, 2012, can report the issue to Client Services or to ERCOT’s Helpdesk • ERCOT will continue to support Microsoft IE7 until mid-2014. No action is required from Market Participants at this time.
