CT/2/C TELEVISION TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENTSERVICE INFORMATION SUB COMMITTEE General Considerations • Australian Standard will set the minimum requirements for Baseline IRDs. • Once the Standard is defined all decoders need to be backward compatible. • The Australian Standard references ETSI, AS/NZ, DVB, ITU, IEC/ISO and DAVIC standards.

  4. CT/2/C TELEVISION TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENTSERVICE INFORMATION SUB COMMITTEE DVB Standards • Some DVB Standards are “Living Documents”. • Some DVB Blue Books are still updated. • Some new DVB Blue Books are still produced.

CT/2/C TELEVISION TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENTSERVICE INFORMATION SUB COMMITTEE DVB Standards • DVB standards are published and updated through additions and revisions to the ETSI standards. • Latest advice from the DVB Project Office, the DVB FTP site and the DVB CD-ROM regarding the status of the DVB and ETSI standards.

CT/2/C TELEVISION TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENTSERVICE INFORMATION SUB COMMITTEE ETSI ETR 154 Implementation guidelines for the use of MPEG-2 • Annex A (Display and Resolution formats) Modify • The Australian definition of HDTV requires; • a minimum value of horizontal_size_value of 720 pixels at a 50 Hz progressive scan frame rate or, • a minimum value of 1440 pixels at a 25 Hz interlaced frame rate.

CT/2/C TELEVISION TRANSMITTING EQUIPMENTSERVICE INFORMATION SUB COMMITTEE ETSI ETR 154 Implementation guidelines for the use of MPEG-2 • For Australian HDTV the maximum vertical_size_value is 1080 pixels (active lines). • ETR 154 Annex A contains a vertical_size_value of 1152 pixels (lines) for an interlaced format. • We note that while Annex A is Informative, the Annex will be a reference for IRD design and manufacture.
