  1. Playing Cards History Why Cards were Invented Countries with the cards The Suits Games

  2. History of Playing Cards In the early 1300’s and 1400’s cards were mainly used for gambling and to tell fortunes. The main card that told many fortunes was the Ace of Spades which represented death. Italians made cards for fortune telling which were the Tarot cards. The origin of playing cards is a mystery. Some say the Crusaders brought them back from the Middle East in the early 1300’s. Others say gypsies brought them back from Europe in the early 1400’s. Others say the famous Italian Marco Polo brought them back from China in the late 13th Century. Historians reckon those stories are lies and cards first arrived in Europe, probably from Egypt. But they were made earlier in China probably in the 969. The Europeans first cards were hand made and painted but very expensive to buy so only the wealthy could buy these cards.

  3. Countries with Playing Cards Many Countries have the Playing Cards. The first country to have the playing cards was Egypt but the Europeans were the first to actually play with the playing cards. the cards are mainly featured in Italy, Spain, France, America, United Kingdom and New Zealand.

  4. Playing Cards Suits Playing cards have ‘’four suits’’, The English and French call the suits diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs. The diamond and heart suits are coloured red and spade and club suits are coloured black which are the most famous throughout the world. The Italians and Spanish had swords, batons, cups and coins as theirs. The Swiss had shields, flowers, bells and acorns. The Joker was later created in 1850 for a game called Euchre.

  5. Games with Playing Cards Many games are played with playing cards, the first games played were mainly gambling games like blackjack, solitaire and others. Nowadays we play games like last card, fishy fishy and many others which are not played for gambling, just for fun. When the joker was invented back in 1850 there was a game called Euchre. The gambling games took a real long time to play, as the new games took a short time to play, so when you finished a game you would have a lot more time to play it again and again and again.

  6. Why Playing Cards were Invented The Playing Cards were invented because people usually got bored of walking, watching television and many other stuff. So the Playing Cards were invented and people usually started playing with them, but they were causing trouble as some of the games usually started fights over who won, who lost, cheating and many others. Also cards were invented for magic tricks in shows, bets and many more illusion challenges.
