  4. Year in review • June 2003: WK creates MIP business unit (Medical Information Professionals) • 2002 -2003: electronic access to LWW titles transferred from IPS to Ovid Online

  5. What direction? Strategy update • Wolters Kluwer will focus on Science, Health and Medicine • Ovid and SilverPlatter: move to a single platform with “best of both worlds” • Ovid Online platform as foundation

  6. Why? Strategy update Market research results: -Customers rank same features and tools as important -Customers see health and science as Ovid’s core strenghts - 80% of SIlverPlatter customers fall in HS

Strategy update Technology: -Ovid Online platform is the most complete: books, journals, databases - Ovid specializes in the electronic delivery of information – no legacy systems - LWW is a specialist in developing top quality content in the medical fields, and delivering this content in traditional methods (i.e. print)

  8. When? Strategy update • Ovid and SilverPlatter will consolidate in a single platform over time! • ERL will remain until significant customer demand • Unique SP content and tools must be moved to the Ovid interface first • New unique features will be developed for the new platform

  9. When? Strategy update • Institutional access to LWW journals became exclusive to the Ovid Online platform in July 2002 • IPS will continue to provide access to LWW journals for unaffiliated clinicians (thousands!)
