Characters Carter Kane- a fourteen year old that is a descendant of two families with the blood of the pharaohs. He is the older brother of Sadie Kane. Wields a khopesh sword. Is a host of the god Horus. Sadie Kane- a twelve year old that is a descendant of two families with the blood of the pharaohs. She is the younger sister of Carter Kane. Uses spells as a weapon. Is a host of the goddess Isis.
Plot On Christmas Eve Carter’s and Sadie’s dad take them to the British museum. Their dad attempts to summon Osiris to revive Carter’s and Sadie’s mom back to life but accidentally summons the five children of Nut. One of them was Set a very evil god. Carter and Sadie go through dangerous task to get to Set. They meet Zia and Bast who help Carter and Sadie on their Journey. Carter and Sadie unite with their god/goddess and defeat Set. They spare Set from being sent to the duat for centuries if Set promises to fight Apophis when he rises. Carter and Sadie know Set’s secret name “Evil Day” in case Set decides to betray them. They go back to the mansion in Brooklyn and find it clean from Khufu. Anubis takes Carter and Sadie to the Hall of Judgment and they see their parents again. Carter’s and Sadie’s new mission is to find more kids with blood of the pharaoh.
Conflict/Resolution Carter and Sadie vs. Set > Carter and Sadie face Set when he tries to destroy North America by causing a great storm. Carter and Sadie vs. The House of Life > Carter and Sadie need gods to help them and The House of Life forbids summoning gods. Resolution: Carter and Sadie make an alliance with Set to help destroy Apophis.
Theme The theme is to believe in what you think. > Sadie was chant the spell to banish Set she decided to spare him because Set was still family to Carter and herself. This theme represents this book the best because it describes how Carter and Sadie feel and what they do during the journey.
Personal Book Review I think The Red Pyramid was a really good book. It has constant action, adventure, and suspense that leaves you wanting more. I would rate it four stars overall. This book should be read by boys and girls age ten and up.
