Keyboarding Rules • Keep your fingers on the home row. • We’ll learn more about that later! • Once you have learned where your fingers go, try not to look at the keyboard. • Keep your eyes on the screen. • No pecking! • What’s pecking? Pecking is when you just take your hands and fingers and move all around the keyboard.
Home Row • This is where your four main fingers on both hands will rest while they are waiting to type. • You will practice using the home row more at some fun websites.
Important Keys to Know SPACE BAR Makes a space between words ENTER Go to the next line
SHIFT Capitalize letters BACKSPACE Delete or go back a space
ARROW KEYS Scroll pages or helps you go different directions in your typing CAPS LOCK Makes all your letters big
TAB Move spaces across the screen CTRL Lets you use the other symbols found on keys
