  1. As It Is Chapter 4Text 11-15 Reciprocation from Krsna. Worship of demigods. Four divisions of society. No work binds the Supreme Lord.

  2. Text 11 ye yathä mäà prapadyante täàs tathaiva bhajämy aham mama vartmänuvartante manuñyäù pärtha sarvaçaù As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Påthä.

  3. All kinds of spiritual processes are but different degrees of success on the same path. • Reciprocation with different practitioners :Devotees – master, friend, son & lover.Impersonalist – merging in Brahmajyoti.Yogis – giving siddhis.Karmis – material sense gratification • "Whether one is without desire [the condition of the devotees], or is desirous of all fruitive results, or is after liberation, one should with all efforts try to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead for complete perfection, culminating in Kåñëa consciousness."

  4. Text 12 käìkñantaù karmaëäà siddhià yajanta iha devatäù kñipraà hi mänuñe loke siddhir bhavati karma-jä Men in this world desire success in fruitive activities, and therefore they worship the demigods. Quickly, of course, men get results from fruitive work in this world.

  5. Position of Krsna vs demigods. • The demigods are delegated with powers to manage this material world and are not different forms of God but just part and parcel of God. • Anyone who thinks that God and the demigods are on the same level is called an atheist, or päñaëòé. • The demigods of this material world, as well as their worshipers along with their boons, will vanish with the annihilation of this material world. The boons of the demigods are material and temporary. Kamais tais tair hrta…

  6. Text 13 cätur-varëyaà mayä såñöaà guëa-karma-vibhägaçaù tasya kartäram api mäà viddhy akartäram avyayam According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.

  7. Krsna creator of varna-ashram • Brahmana – one who knows BrahmaNature - Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and religiousnessDuties – study scriptures, teach scriptural knowledge, performing Yanja, inspire others to do Yanja, accept charity and give charity. • Kshatriya – Protects the society from harmNature - Heroism, power, determination, resourcefulness, courage in battle, generosity and leadershipDuties – Protects the society, performs yajna etc.

  8. Text 14-15 na mäà karmäëi limpanti na me karma-phale spåhä iti mäà yo 'bhijänäti karmabhir na sa badhyate evaà jïätvä kåtaà karma pürvair api mumukñubhiù kuru karmaiva tasmät tvaà pürvaiù pürvataraà kåtam There is no work that affects Me; nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about Me also does not become entangled in the fruitive reactions of work. All the liberated souls in ancient times acted with this understanding of My transcendental nature. Therefore you should perform your duty, following in their footsteps.

  9. Krsna – not bound by any actions • E.g. King can do no wrong or not liable to punishment.E.g. Rain cause of so much of vegetation, but not the cause of variety. • One who thinks of Krsna as ordinary human, becomes entangled in fruitive work. • Krsna conscious action beneficial for both materially polluted and pure. • Foolish persons or neophytes in Kåñëa consciousness often want to retire from activities without having knowledge of Kåñëa consciousness. • One need only know how to act in KC.
