Price & Non-Price Competition By: Johnathan Sancho
Price Competition McDonald’s McDonald’s Dollar Menu is an example of price competition in action, considering the lowered prices of McDonald’s top selling products such as the Double Cheeseburger or the McChicken , the attractiveness of McDonald’s , compared to other fast food restaurants, increases . Other fast food restaurants such as Burger King and Wendy’s have also adopted the Dollar or Value Meal menu but McDonald’s has stayed at the forefront considering the fact that it was the first to do it.
Price Competition Wal-Mart Wal-Mart grocery prices are much lower than many grocery store prices, allowing it to successfully compete with major grocery stores such as Publix an example of this would be the price of Arnold’s Bread at Publix the price is $4.29 however at Wal-Mart the price is $2.79 a whole $1.50 cheaper; to go even further another example would be the price of Capri sun juices at Publix $2.69 but at Wal-Mart 1.79, $0.90 cheaper than Publix.
Non Price Competition Chick-Fil-A Chick-Fil-A is a business that does not necessarily have to lower its prices for it to successfully compete however it has different promotions which promotes its business an example of this would be its daily promotions such as College Night where college students who present their college student ID receive a free chicken sandwich or 8-count nugget with the purchase of any meal or entrée or Web Insider where a person can get a free chicken biscuit or 3-count mini between the hours of 6:30 and 10:30 am (you must mention you are there for Web Insider and have registered before 8 pm the previous day).
Non Price Competition Pacsun Pacsun clothing store hardly ever lowers its prices however like many other clothing stores Pacsun has online coupons , online cash off promo codes , promo cards where one can after a certain amount of purchases (6 purchases) can get 50% off the next purchase made from them and finally if you purchase 3 items (shirts or jeans) from them at once you are given the fourth item for free.
