October Meeting Modeling and Simulation Using Real World Terrain and Linkage to SYstemS Engineering Speaker: David A Findley, Boeing Flight Simulation Databases Date & Location: 25 October, 2012, Boeing B64 Lobby Conf Room 235 Brown Bag Lunch / Presentation: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Abstract: Use of system engineering principles will be introduced and applied to simulation capabilities, coordinate systems, aircraft simulations and databases. A review of the applications of geodesy to solve these “real world” problems and applied to emulative simulators and databases using WGS-84 terrain with high fidelity, real time databases will be discussed. A linkage will be shown to system engineering V and conclusions drawn. Biography: Dave has been in flight simulation for over 35 years and is the subject matter expert and developer of databases for all St. Louis out-the-window and sensor databases. He has worked on commercial simulators at Conductron, F-15 inlet development in the propulsion group, and F-15 flight simulation. His co- author, Bill Bezdek, has over 41 years in his career at McDonnell-Douglas Corporation (MDC) / Boeing in St. Louis and is a Boeing Technical Fellow in Modeling and Simulation. He is the Past President of INCOSE Midwest Gateway Chapter and president of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) St. Louis Chapter. Directions: Bldg. 64 is on McDonnell Blvd between Lindbergh and Airport Road. Reservations not required, but please contact Joanie Humbert (Joan.Humbert@boeing.com or 314-232-0703) by 22 October to attend, for a snack count and badging for non-Boeing attendees. Non-Boeing attendees, please contact Bill Bezdek for meeting escort (cell:314-306-6210).
