  3. HISTORY AND DESIGN • Company found digital music players lacking in user interface and decided to develop its own. • First iPod “1000 songs in your pocket” __ Jon Rubinstein. • Collaboration with Portal player and Pixo.

  4. USER INTERFACE • Uses high quality anti-aliased graphics and text technology,sliding animation. • Scroll wheel integrated with five buttons • Offers uncluttered user interface.

  5. SOFTWARE • iTunes can synchronize music playlists and entire music libraries. • iPods can support mp3,AAC, WAV, AIFF and Audible audiobook. • 5th generation can also support MPEG-4, mp4, and Quick time video file formats. • MIDI files cannot be played ,but can be converted to audio files using advanced options.

  6. ITUNES STORE • iTunes is an online media store and accessed by iTunes and run by Apple. • Sale of audio /video files and full length movies at relatively cheap prices. • Purchased audio files uses AAC format along with encryption based upon “ Digital rights management” system.

  7. FILE STORAGE • Mac OS X enabled iPod uses HFS Plus format. • If formatted on Windows it supports FAT 32 file systems. • Files stored as a hidden folder with a proprietary database .
