  1. Who Am I? This week, and during the year, we are going to look at how you are defined by imagery and the media around you. IOW, how you are defined by the things around you and the things you surround yourself with.

  2. Name Game: “Who am I?” • Because of the unique nature of this class with all 4 class levels represented (9th-12th), many of you may not know each other...and I also need help in learning 100 new names as quickly as possible. • In addition, we will look at how you are defined by imagery and media around you. So, lets start out with a little name game. • Please partner up. WFI (wait for instructions) • Then, interview your partner asking the following questions: •     a. Name •     b. Where they were born •     c. Favorite song •     d. Favorite activity over the summer •     e. Career aspirations • After a few minutes of time to complete #2, we will go around the room and let you introduce your partner. • Pay attention (you may want to take notes) because I am going to quiz you along the way of those who have already been introduced. • Then, we are going to mix it up and split into groups to get to know one another by: •     f. Grade level •     g. Birthday, by quarters: Jan – March, April – June, July – Sept, Oct – Dec •     h. Favorite color: Blue, Red, Green, Other •     i. City of birth (Beaumont, Outside Beaumont, but in Texas, border states (LA, Ok, Az, Mexico), Beyond •     j. Favorite pet (cat, dog, bird, Other) •     k. Favorite type of movie: drama, comedy, action motion, horror (decide as a group what the best movie) • * When you are in your small groups, talk to one another and ask each other questions.

  3. I’ll go first… • My full name is George Andrew Loker IV …my parents weren’t very original. • I was born in Columbia, South Carolina. I only lived there for 1 year before moving to Houston for 5 years. I have been in Beaumont since 1974 where I attended Sallie Curtis Elementary in the 2nd grade. • My favorite song is probably “Living on Prayer” by Bon Jovi because that is how I feel about life (you know… “We’re halfway there…I know we’re gonna make it”. But I like lots of music genre’s…except maybe opera. I even like some country…but mostly just tolerate what my wife makes me listen to. Photo by Todd Hargis

  4. My favorite activity this summer was trip to Yosemite, California. • My wife and I last visited 19 years ago …and I have been looking forward to returning since we left. Photo by Aimee Loker

  5. Career • This will make my 13th year teaching. I did try another field of work leaving Central HS in 1997 after 5 years of teaching photography to enter the business world in Financial Sales. • In 1999, I taught at Cathedral HS for 1 year while continuing to work full time trying to establish my business in the world of finances. • In 2004, I decided I like teaching more than anything else and returned to Central for 1 year before transferring to West Brook in 2005. • I am glad to be at West Brook…having graduated the WB in 1986. I started with WB as a 9th when it was created in 1982. • When I am not teaching or photographing, I am frequently mowing the yard.

  6. The future… • And despite getting my Mid-Management Certification (Principalship), I really like being in the classroom…so not planning on leaving anytime soon. • One day I would like to market the many wonderful photos I have taken in the last 20 years.

  7. Self Portraits can be a lot of fun…

  8. My wife likes to shoot… • So we go shooting a lot together. • She has a REALLY good eye for good photos…and is my muse.

  9. And I really mean…shooting!

  10. …fortunately not me…at least not too often.

  11. But she doesn’t like to be shot. • Especially if she hasn’t had her morning coffee.

  12. She prefers to be behind the camera…like me.

  13. She’ll shoot even with her cell phone.

  14. But sometimes she takes it easy.

  15. The Rest of the Family

  16. Bailey helped take this picture. :)

  17. The pets sure offer a lot of photo ops. :)

  18. It’s almost Game Time! Watching the LSU Tigers play…with my dad.

  19. Go Bruins!!!!

  20. So, what’s your story?
