  4. Physicals due on or prior to Friday, Feb. 28 (valid until 7/31) • Permission slips due on or prior to Feb. 28 • Clinics from 3:15-5pm March 3-6 • Try-outs begin at 3:30pm on March 7 • Fees due May 1 (for new & returning team members) Important Dates

  5. Physical on file with school nurse • Signed Permission slip • Fill out teachers from 2nd quarter (teacher recs) • Must have passed 5 of 7 classes last semester • Be passing all classes/have all work handed in • Attend all clinics and tryouts Requirements

  6. Plain white t shirt • Black Shorts • No spandex or tight fitting clothing • Dance shoes or athletic shoes that student can easily dance and cheer in • No gum or jewelry • Hair should be pulled back neatly in a ponytail What to wear for Tryouts

  7. Entrance with toe touch and one other jump of choice. (Tumbling should be shown here if applicable). • Individual Chant • Group Cheer • Pom Routine • Appearance and Overall Presentation Tryout for Cheer

  8. Turn Sequence • Leap Sequence • Group Dance • Individual Choreography • Appearance and Overall Presentation Tryout for Dance

We provide a fair and un-biased tryout process. • Judges are not affiliated with Pioneer Trail or any feeder schools. • Points are tallied in the tryout room by office staff. • Teams are selected based on individual numerical scores. The girl with the highest scores gets her first preference. This continues until all of the slots are filled, or there is a natural break in the scores. Judging & Scoring

  10. Expense- $550-$650due by May 1, 2013. You may not participate until all fees are paid! • Optional fundraisers-to cover individual costs will take place shortly after spring break. • Team fundraisers throughout the year will cover team expenses. • Extra Practices- Before camp, summer, morning and possible Saturday practices before a performance. • Games- 1-2 games per week depending on the season. • Summer Camp- May 28-30 @ ONHS. • Extra performances: Old Settler’s day parade, District Showcase, etc. What if I Make the Cheer Squad?

  12. Everyone is highly encouraged to participate in the fundraisers provided. • Be creative! How can your daughter earn some extra money? • Former squad members may be interested in selling their gently used items to new squad members. • See coach with individual concerns or questions about expenses. Concerned about the Cost??

  13. Tryouts can be a stressful experience. We hope to provide a process that is positive and learning-centered. • Per district policy final scores are kept confidential. • If you feel the need, you may set up an appointment with Mrs. Carpenter (Assistant Principal). At this meeting we will provide a Strengths/Weaknesses sheet demonstrating areas that your candidate could improve on for next time. What if I Don’t Make the Team?

  14. Teacher Rec. Forms must be filled out ASAP! • Physical must be on file with school nurse on or before February 28 • Permission slip must be signed and handed in to the front office on or before February 28 • Candidates must have all work turned in a be passing all classes! Reminders:
