Survey Objective of the survey: To determine what do members of the Agri-Hub need on gender in value chains, with the objective to determine what the Working Group can/should do for the network regarding Gender in Value Chains Survey: Brief survey to determine the need for information or support on gender in value chains. Response: 46 Persons from at least 35 organizations (not all respondents answered this question)

Result 6a: The Agri-hub should focus on • Stakeholder coordination • Conduct study(assignment) on overall gender condition • Practical chaining • Experience sharing • Improve Agri-Hub • Practical effort lacks, other than serving for fund raising – a real intervention should me made to improve the disparity on account of gender • Interested in theory, skill and practice
Result 7: Key statements on Agri-Hub • Play a catlytic role • Agri-Hub should provide training advice and consultancy services to women • Popularize the best way to engage women and youth farmers in different VCs • Share guiding documents online • Organize practical sessions • Conduct different research studies on gaps of gender considerations • Focus on practical steps to address gender problems • Stress on how to empower women in economy and skill development • Training, awareness and communication
Result 7: Key statements on Agri-Hub (2) • Enhance gender mainstreaming, each member should develop policies and actual experience from implementing • Develop a manual • Provide organizations with knowledge, skills and tools • Search best practices and experiences (documents and meetings) • Agri-Hub must reach grass root level organisations • Should share online documents • Knowledge and skill transfer • Creating a strong network across organisations who are working on gender in agricultural value chains
Conclusions • A diversity of people and experiences • A diversity of wishes, covering everything from training, via exchange of experiences to documentation and to becoming a thinktank • Overall proposal: let us to built up the skills, knowledge and experience of the Working Group in these steps: • Training to create a common ground and discuss tools. • Participating organizations present their case and challenges. • Coaches discuss approach on each organisation. • Coaching of organisations/programs. • Experience sharing event(s). • Workshop for participants to present their results. • Coach(es) to make a publication in local language(s).
Information on support track Objective / results: • Increase basic level of understanding & knowledge of available tools by training • Improve actual cases (at different organisations) by coaching • Improve the tools by using them on cases • Share all the lessons learned by making an (Amharic) practical publication
Ongoing developments • Agri-ProFocus is developing a wider support program for Gender in Value Chains • Also including international experience sharing in the long run Funding: • Funding for international coach in this program is available • Looking for coaches / trainers – SNV will contribute • Other funding will be needed
