  10. Puzzles 405 Puzzles???

  11. Puzzles-- Internal 405 (A seeming contradiction within the Book) Regarding life and death "A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth"(7:1 NIV) "Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool – why die before your time?" (7:17 NIV)

  12. Puzzles -- Internal 405 (A seeming contradiction within the Book) Regarding the value of working "I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor" (2:10 NIV) "I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me" (2:18 NIV)

  13. Puzzles -- Internal 405 (A seeming contradiction within the Book) Regarding the value of wisdom "For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief" (1:18 NIV) "I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness" (2:13 NIV)

  14. Puzzles -- Internal 405 (A seeming contradiction within the Book) Regarding the view of sorrow "Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart" (7:3 NIV) "So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless" (11:10 NIV)

  15. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) Solomon claims there is a time to kill... "A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build" (3:3 NIV).

  16. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) But God says that we are not to kill... "You shall not murder" (Exod. 20:13 NIV). To kill is God's prerogative... "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand" (Deut. 32:39 NIV).

  17. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) Solomon claims there is a time to hate... "A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace" (3:8 NIV)

  18. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) But Jesus said that we are not to hate... "But I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matt. 5:44 NIV)

  19. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) Solomon claims there is nothing better we can do than to look at the physical, the here and now... "So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?" (3:22 NIV)

  20. Puzzles -- External 405 (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) But Jesus said that it is far better to deny the self and resist the pulls of our physical natures... "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me'"(Matt. 16:24 NIV)

  21. Puzzles -- External (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) Solomon says sorrow is better than joy & laughter... "Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart" (7:3 NIV)

  22. Puzzles -- External (A seemingcontradiction with other books in the Bible) But Paul tells us to always rejoice... "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Phil. 4:4 NIV)
