  1. Welcome Year 6 Parents

  2. Year 6 SATS 2014 Timetable

  3. Absence during the test period Lord Bew’s review recommended that children who are absent for a National Curriculum test can take the test up to a week after the published test date. There is a variation timetable that we can use for these children to sit the tests.

  4. The English tests • • English reading test • Writing within year 6 is now based on a teacher assessment. • Grammar Test: • Each child will receive a separate result for writing reading and grammar. • The reading and grammar result are also combined to give an overall English level. • The average result for most children within year 6 is a level 4.

  5. The mathematics tests The mathematics tests comprise: • Papers 1 and 2- this year these are both non calculator tests. We no longer sit a calculator paper. • mental mathematics test. Children’s marks from all three tests will be aggregated to calculate their overall mathematics level.

  6. The level 6 tests Schools can also administer level 6 tests in English reading, grammar and mathematics to high attaining children. These tests are optional. Headteachers should take into account children’s expected attainment prior to entering them for these tests as they should already be demonstrating attainment above level 5. Children will be required to achieve both a level 5 in the end of Key Stage 2 test and pass the level 6 test in the corresponding subject, in order to be awarded an overall level 6 test result in that subject.

  7. Test results will be available to the school on 8th July 2014

  8. Supporting your children Ensure your child is at school everyday. Use the revision books to go through any areas your child is concerned about. Let your child’s teacher know if your child is worried or is experiencing any difficulties which they need to know about. Help us to help you. If there is anything we can do to help you with your child let us know.

  9. Supporting your children We are targeting children who need support through Booster sessions in school. Your children also have the opportunity to attend revision club 3 lunchtimes a week. The children are taught in smaller sets allowing staff to target specific learning needs. We are aware of the needs of the children and during testing children will be placed in groups with the support they need. Please come and talk to us if you have any individual worries or concerns.
