  4. Facing Persistent Temptation • Genesis 39:1-11 • Joseph’s Problem: • Genesis 39:7 - His master’s wife sought to tempt Joseph. • Genesis 39:10 - She persisted in her temptation daily. • Genesis 39:11-12 - She increased the temptation.

  5. Facing Persistent Temptation • Genesis 39:8-12 • Joseph’s Response: • Genesis 39:8-9 - Joseph told this woman “no.” • Genesis 39:10 - Joseph refused to listen to her. • Genesis 39:12 - Joseph even had to flee from her.

  10. Facing False Accusations • Genesis 39:1-11 • Joseph’s Problem: • Genesis 39:13-15 - Potipher’s wife falsely accused Joseph to the other men. • Genesis 39:16-18 - Then she accused Joseph to Potipher. • Genesis 39:19-20 - He became angry & threw Joseph in prison.

  11. Facing False Accusations • Genesis 39:21-23 • Joseph’s Response: • Genesis 39:21 - Joseph continued to be faithful to the Lord. • Genesis 39:22-23 – The keeper of the prison commits all the prisoners into Joseph’s authority. • What did this keeper see in Joseph?

  12. Facing False Accusations • Our Applications: • 1.) We will be faced with false accusations. • Matthew 5:10-12 – “say all kinds of evil against you falsely” • I Peter 3:16 – “defame you as evildoers” • I Peter 4:14-16 – “reproached for the name of Christ”

Jesus was faced with false accusations. • Mark 3:1-2 – “watched Him closely… so that they might accuse Him” • Luke 7:33-34 – “Look, a glutton and a winebibber” • Luke 11:53-54 – “seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him”

  14. Facing False Accusations • Our Applications: • 3.) We must keep our lives above reproach. • Titus 2:8 – “having nothing evil to say of you” • Ephesians 5:1-4 – “let it not even be named among you” • Luke 6:22-23 – “Blessed are you when men… cast out your name as evil”

  15. Facing Life’s Problems • We must resist temptation & submit to God. • We must live our lives above reproach so that none may have evil to say of us. • Although the problems of this life may seem huge, heaven will be worth it all.
