What is EIP? • The Early Intervention Program is designed to help students who are not working on grade level or need assistance maintaining academic grade level performance. • The purpose of the EIP is to provide additional instructional resources to help students obtain the necessary academic skills.
Who Qualifies for EIP? • All Students who score at Level I on the CRCT in Reading or Math (below 800) • Kindergarten students qualify through their GKIDs score. • A few students who score at Level 2 on the CRCT in Reading or Math (800-820) • New students to Mashburn who are experiencing difficulty in Reading or Math
Schedule • 30 or 45 minute segment • Daily direct instruction in reading and/or math in small group format • We team teach with the teacher during their regular math/reading time.
Skills Focus • Basic Phonics Skills • Decoding/ Encoding • Fluency • Comprehension • Vocabulary • Number Operations • Measurement • Geometry • Problem Solving
Exiting EIP • A group of teachers will look at a body of evidence to determine if a student has made satisfactory improvement and is maintaining grade level performance. The teachers will sign off on the dismissal, and the parents will be notified. • Data used are the students’ report card, class work, and teacher input. • All students exit from EIP at the end of the school year .
What You Can Do At Home • Read to your child and have your child read to you • Incorporate assisted drill and practice into your daily routine • Use every family experience to build vocabulary skills • Ask probing questions about daily happenings and require thoughtful responses • Access academic internet sites for motivational practice
