  2. The Target Audience • My fellow students (M1s & M2s) who are as yet unaware of or uninterested in the importance of EOL care.

  3. People Who Can Help Me • Professors who look a lot like these people • Administrators committed to a truly integrated curriculum • Humanities Department • Leadership in Medicine dept.

  4. What is already in place • M1 Humanities Lectures • M2 6-week elective lead by Lutheran Minister/part-time Hospice chaplain • M3/M4 Geriatric rotation option • Mandatory rotations at the VA… need I say more?

  5. What I can do?

  6. Death & Dying Interest Group • Intro Lunch for first meeting. • Monthly meetings with different guest speakers/discussions (cookies provided) • Visit support groups • M3/4 monthly meeting to discuss dead/dying patients in safe setting • Death Call on FP rotation with Hospice doc

  7. Evening Forum • Newly formed DDIG will work with Empower to sponsor student/faculty forum on cultural religious perspectives on death and dying (follow-up to previous year’s panel on religion) • Food draw: pot-luck treats and eats

  8. Curricularly • Add “To Live Until I Die” to M1 Humanities • Hospice Volunteering as Humanities elective • Add M1 Phys lecture on phys of dying • Add M2 Pharm lecture on narcotics and other medicinal options in pain management and at EOL • Add elective 2 week Hospice rotation in 4th year
