Charlotte’s Father • Patrick Brontë was born 17 March 1777 in Loughbrickland, County Down, Ireland, to a poor Roman Catholic family of farm workers • Charlottes father was a rector which explains why there are so many religious influences on the book • Charlottes father was recovering from an eye injury while she wrote Jane Eyre just like Jane cares for Rochester after he goes blind

Charlotte’s Mother • Maria Brontë, née Branwell, was born on the 15th of April 1783 in Penzance, Cornwall and came from a comfortably well off middle-class family. • Known for her lively spirit, joyfulness, and tenderness • Inspired her children before her untimely death from Cancer at the age of 38

  5. Charlotte’s Brother • Jane's brother was a alcoholic and drug addict just like Jane's cousin in Jane Eyre even though Charlotte published Jane Eyre before her brother died

  6. Charlotte’s Sisters • Her sisters died because of poor school conditions at Clergy Daughters' School at Cowan Bridge, Lancashire • Helen dies in the school because of poor conditions

  7. Charlotte’s Early Life • She worked as a governess for some time at a school and later for a family just like Jane Eyre • She worked for the same school that she was taught at • Charlotte turned down her husband’s original proposal and later accepted just like Jane
