Objective • Today, we will learn the basic 7 and how to implement Whole Brain to increase engagement into your classroom.

Class-Yes • The attention grabber: Class – Yes • (The brain switch that readies students for instruction) • For maximum effect, occasionally vary your tone of voice. Class—Yes
So your class has mastered Class-Yes? • Class- Boom • Students respond with yes-boom and clasp their hands together on the last boom • Class- something academic • teacher says class, 3 x9 boom • Students say 27 boom
The Focuser . . . Hands and Eyes Whenever you want to make a big point, totally focus your class, you say “hands and eyes.” Your class repeats “hands and eyes”, folds their hands and stares at you. Hands & Eyes
Classroom Rules The 5 Classroom Rules: Rule #1 Follow directions quickly! Rule #2 Raise your hand for permission to speak. Rule #3 Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat. Rule #4 Make smart choices! Rule #5 Keep your dear teacher happy!
Silent Mirror • Teacher says Silent Mirrors with quiet signal.
Rule #1: Follow directions quickly! (Gesture – move hand and arm in a wavy motion through the air) (Students repeat the rule and gesture)
Rule #2: Raise your hand for permission to speak! (Gesture –raise your hand and make a “talking” gesture with your hand.) (Students repeat the rule and gesture)

Rule #4: Make smart choices! (Gesture – tap your temple with one finger thoughtfully.) (Students repeat the rule and gesture)
Rule #5: Keep your dear teacher happy! (Gesture – Use pointer fingers to cheeks and smile.) (Students repeat the rule and gesture)

Never let the difference between smilies and frownies be larger than 3 points. If you reward too much, your students will lose motivation. If you punish too much, they will quit trying. • Use the “Mighty Oh Yeah” when students earn a point. Students clap their hands and say OH YEAH! When giving yourself a point, students use the “Mighty Groan”. Students shrug their shoulders and make a groan sound. The Motivator . . . The Scoreboard! Or Students vs. Teacher Here is a huge point.
