Deployment How will Ultranet be deployed to schools? • Start schools will join Ultranet in the week beginning Monday May 3, 2010 – two schools per network [release 1] • From May 24 through to late September, 2 or 3 schools will join Ultranet. • Training cycles for schools/lead users will be over a two week period which includes the equivalent of 2 full days training with the network Ultranet Coach. • There is currently a bid for CRT funding to cover Lead Users training but at this stage we have not heard anything • Lead Users will then be responsible for providing professional learning for school-based staff   • Lead Users will work in collaboration with Ultranet Coaches to provide ongoing professional learning to ensure the Ultranet is fully integrated • Release 2 training begins in term 4, 2010

Where to start… What can we do now to get started? • Choose your Lead Users and prepare them with information • Primary Schools – Set up ERM with eCASES • Introduce iGoogle to your staff – will help them become familiar with gadgets ‘n’ widgets, RSS feeds and the ‘feel’ of the Ultranet • Have teachers set up a collaborative environment for their students – WikiSpaces lets you create user accounts for students without email • Go online and collaborative with administration – work programs, agendas, team planning…use Google Docs & Wikis • Revise your Internet use policies [AUPs, Bullying, CyberSafety] • Take advantage of SuperClubs Plus [primary 3-6] – focuses on appropriate internet use, social networking for students in a 24/7 moderated environment • Improve your network infrastructure and computer fleet • Put a high focus on eLearning in Literacy and Numeracy
