  3. Where did we start? • Make an appointment with careers around August/September time to allow time for amendments. Try and create a draft statement to take (by the print room, in the old Guild building) • Contact:tel 01978 293240 • Email:careerscentre@glyndwr.ac.uk • Make a draft of personal statement • Check your university choice website for examples of personal statements to see what they’re looking for.

  4. Application Process • We applied through UCAS on the 21st Nov 2013. • Make sure you give all your information to Paula. We advise you give your second referee plenty of time to prepare a reference. • Be aware that some universities respond faster than others and in different ways (email/letter/tracker).

  5. Interview Process - Crewe • We were sent an e-mail about what to expect on the day. • We were asked to prepare a 2 minute presentation on “I feel a current educational issue facing teachers today is...”. • A group discussion relating to the presentations. • A handwritten task on the topic of ‘The Teacher I Want to Be’. • Individual interview lasting 5-10 minutes.

  6. Interview Process - Chester • We received a letter about what to receive for the day • We prepared a 2 minute presentation on a choice of 9 different topics, such as ‘Play is the best way for children to learn’, ‘Parents are a child’s prime educator’ and ‘Girls and boys should be treated the same’. • Group discussion/debate on the presentation topics • 15-20 minute individual interview

  7. How we found out • Crewe – Email from Crewe confirming offer and later received an email from UCAS tracker informing something had changed. • Chester – Checked on tracker and received letter confirming offer about a week later.

  8. UCAS Tracker

  9. Numeracy and Literacy Tests • The tests are taken at Pearson Education Centres. • Practise tests are available at this website http://www.education.gov.uk/sta/professional • Start revising as soon as you can. • You get three attempts; the first attempt is free and there will be a charge for the next two tests. • IF YOU DO NOT PASS THE THIRD ATTEMPT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR TEACHER TRAINING FOR 2 YEARS.
