  3. EDF Energy in UK After France, our UK team has booked another big one for the UK branch of EDF: 1 000 Workabout Pro. EDF Energy is the new name for merged London Electricity and Seeboard group of companies. They employ more than 11,000 people in more than 80 sites in the UK- they are one of the largest energy companies in the UK. Application: Meter reading for Retail and Network Business areas Competition: Competitive field trial against Symbol and Itronix. They have historically been using Itronix Handheld devices and Nokia Smartphones. Reasons for success: Our commitment shown to the project, industry expertise and dedication.

Anglian Water Anglian Water is one of the "big 4" leading providers of water and wastewater services in the UK to industrial, commercial and domestic customers. 850 WORKABOUT PRO have been deployed for field service technicians. Anglian Water has selected WORKABOUT PRO running Windows Mobile 2003 SE (pocket PC) to run SAP’s MAU (Mobile Asset Management for utilities). Will operate via GSM/GPRS communications to the SAP Web application server for sending/receiving jobs/data.

  5. Deutsche Post Real Estate Psion Teklogix has received an order for 1 000 WORKABOUT PRO. Application: Field service technicians for asset management and stamp selling machines maintenance. Installed in the car, the WAP will be connected via GPRS to SAP Mobile Infrastructure 2.5 with MAM application. Software integration will be done by SAP SI. Competition: Symbol a bit but mainly Intermec with 761. Reasons for success: Very positive feedback from users after their test campaign. Brilliant display, keyboard design (hard cap and full alpha numeric). Flexibility and modularity of the WORKABOUT PRO.

EMEA large recent wins in GMM: SNCF: Accelio project in France • A few months ago, the most popular French IT magazine, “Le monde informatique” published a long article about the SNCF (French Railways) Accelio project. • In the introduction, they have written “Accelio will be the largest project involving mobile terminals ever deployed in France within a single Company”. And Psion Teklogix won it !!! • After a long and exhaustive battle, we have finally been awarded and have received the biggest Purchase Order in the whole history of Psion Teklogix: 11 550 WORKABOUT PRO: 14.5 USD Million + 2.5 USD Million for 5 years maintenance.

EMEA large recent wins in GMM: SNCF: Accelio project in France • Application: On board ticketing + customer information within every train of SNCF. 2 million people are in the SNCF trains EVERY DAY and will see our WAPro in action • Required technical features: • 2D Imager Symagery SX 5393 to read the encrypted barcode on the ticket • RFID 13.56 MHz - ISO 14443 to read RFID cards (monthly passes) • 512 Mb additional SD RAM • GPRS communication and then EDGE when available • Bluetooth connection to a portable printer • Very high capacity battery (3000 mAh) • Competition: Symbol, Intermec, DAP, Itronix, TxCom (Bitatek), Cypherlab. • Reasons for success: • The outstanding flexibility of the WORKABOUT PRO • An unbelievable mobilization of great people “working like dogs” in France and Canada during days and nights to make it happen. • The extraordinary quality of all those warriors and their fury to overcome all obstacles made this deal just impossible to win for any of our competitors.

Giesecke&Devriendt : Large German company that supply passport solutions worldwide, strong in Middle East. Siemens Business Solutions Philips Semiconductor : is winning a lot of e-passport business but in most cases through partners (system integrators).
