  3. Regular Verbs The future tense is one of the simplest tenses, there is virtually nothing to do. These simple steps will show you exactly how to conjugate all regular -ar,-er and –ir verbs.

  4. The Endings The endings are the same for ALL -ar, -er and –ir verbs… é emos ás ------- á án

  5. The Steps: Step 1 • Simply choose the verb that you wish to conjugate. Let’s choose hablar.

  6. Step 2 • Leave hablar in its “raw” state.

  7. Step 3 3) Now add the future tense ending according to who will be speaking. HABLAR hablaré hablaremos hablarás ----------- hablará habláran

  8. Practice on Your Own Now try an -er and an -ir verb. COMER and ESCRIBIR Hint: These verbs work exactly like the -ar verbs from the previous slide.

  9. -ER COMER comeré comeremos comerás ------------- comerá comerán -IR ESCRIBIR escribiré escribiremos escribirás ----------- escribirá escribirán Practice Answers ¡Muy Bien!

  10. Irregulars These verbs must be changed from their “raw” state, however the future tense endings (é, ás, á, emos, án) stay the same.

  11. The Irregular Verbs dir- har- sabr- podr- pondr- vendr- tendr- saldr- decir (to speak) hacer (to do, to make) saber (to know a fact) poder (to be able to) poner (to put) venir (to come) tener (to have) salir (to leave)

  12. Try a Few! Try conjugating a couple of irregular verbs. Let’s try HACER and TENER.

  13. HACER haré haremos harás ------------ hará harán TENER tendré tendremos tendrás ----------- tendrá tendrán Try a Few! Excelente

  14. Review for Regular Verbs • Take the “raw” verb. • Conjugate accordingly using the future tense é, ás, á, emos, or án endings.

  15. Review for Irregular Verbs • Take the irregular “raw” verb and stem change it. • Now, you simply conjugate appropriately with the future tense é, ás, á, emos, or án endings.
