A Bit About Hermann • Born in 1884 in Zurich, Switzerland • Father was a drawing teacher at a boy’s prep school • Hermann’s childhood nickname was “Klex” (meaning “inkblot”) • Klecksography, using inkblots to create some form of image was a popular game at the time • Was a fairly decent artist

But What About the Inkblots? • Experimented for a while in 1911 with inkblots and Jung’s word association test, but put it aside • In 1917, someone else published a dissertation regarding inkblots Szyman Hens and Eugen Bleuler • Bleuler was Rorschach’s supervisor at one point • Regenerated Rorschach’s interest, who, by 1818 developed about 40 cards (10 are now in use) and utilized them on hundreds of patients • In 1922, he published his book detailing his work with inkblots called “Psychodiagnostik” • A few weeks later, he passed away at the age of 37
