  1. The Cross And The Gospel Gal. 6:14

  2. Gal. 6:14 • But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world

  3. Rom. 1:16 • For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

  4. About The Cross • “The cross of Christ was the express reason for Christ being on earth. It is the very heart of the gospel and the center of the Christian’s life.” Andrew Connally

  5. I. The Cross Of Christ Is The Heart Of The Gospel • Acts 2:23-24 • 1 Cor. 1:17-18, 23, • 1 Cor. 2:1-2 • 1 Cor. 15:1-4

  6. Acts 2:23-24 • Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:[24] Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

  7. 1 Cor. 1:17-18 • For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.[18] For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

  8. 1 Cor. 1:23 • But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

  9. 1 Cor. 2:1-2 • [1] And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.[2] For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

  10. 1 Cor. 15:1-4 • Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

  11. 1 Cor. 15:1-4 • For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

  12. II. The Law Of Moses Ended At The Cross • Mt. 5:17 • Eph. 2:14-15 • Col. 2:14

  13. Mt. 5:17 • Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

  14. Eph. 2:14-15 • [14] For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;[15] Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

  15. Eph. 2:14-15 • 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, NKJV

  16. Col. 2:14 • Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross

  17. III. The Cross Of Christ Is The Basis Of Our Reconciliation • 1. Reconcile = to make friendly again • 2. God through His wonderful grace provided the way for man to be reconciled to Him--By the death of Christ upon the cross

  18. III. The Cross Of Christ Is The Basis Of Our Reconciliation • Eph. 2:16 • Mt. 26:28

  19. Eph. 2:16 • And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

  20. Mt. 26:28 • For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

  21. IV. The Cross Is The Grounds For All Peace • Col. 1:20 • [20] And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

  22. V. The Cross Purchased The Church • Acts 20:28 • Eph. 5:25

  23. Acts 20:28 • Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

  24. Eph. 5:25 • Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

  25. Conclusion • Gal. 6:14 • But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world

  26. Conclusion • Mt. 11:28-30 • Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;

  27. Conclusion • for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
