Drill of flightAFMAN 36-2203, Chap 3pg 24 • Steps and Marching • Begin on LEFT (except right step & close march) • Forward March • 24” step from heel to heel • Coordinated arm swing • Hands cupped, thumbs down • Arms straight (not stiff) • Swing naturally (6” in front & 3” in back) • Halt • Take one more 24” step • Trailing foot brought smartly alongside front foot • Heels together, on line, 45 degree angle • Cease arm swing Command for Column Left and Column Right Movements

Individual InstructionAFMAN 36-2203, Chap 3 pg 27-29Quick / Mark / Double Time Quick Time Mark Time(p26) Double Time(p25) (100-120 beat/min) Command halt can be given on any foot • Preparatory command is Mark Time • Command of execution is MARCH. • Take one more 24” step • Bring trailing foot whereby both heels are on line • Raise & lower each foot • Balls of feet raise 4” • execute in quick time only. • To halt, on MARCH, raise & lower left foot then right • Forward, MARCH, heel of left strikes the ground, • Take one more step in place • Step off in a 24” step w/left foot Can be executed from halt or quick time Cup hands w/knuckles out, easy run of 180 steps/minute 30” steps (heel to heel) Resume Quick Time, MARCH

Individual InstructionAFMAN 36-2203, Chap 3 pg 27-29Half / Right (Left) / Change Step • Half Step • On MARCH, take one more 24” step • Followed by 12 “ step (heel to heel) • Resume full 24” step on command Forward, MARCH • Right (Left) Step • On MARCH, raise right leg from hip (enough to clear ground) • Leg =straight, not stiff • Place right foot 12” to the right & bring left foot smartly to position of attention • Continue this movement in quick time until commanded flight, HALT-one more step is taken. • Change Step • Change, step, MARCH • March will be given on right foot • Take another 24” step w/left foot • Ball of right alongside heel of left • Suspend arm swing • Shift weight of the body to right foot • Step off w/left foot in a 24” step-resume arm swing

Individual InstructionAFMAN 36-2203, Chap 3 pg 29-30To the Rear, MARCH Command given as heel of right foot strikes the ground MARCH-take a 12”step w/left foot, place it in front of & inline w/right foot Weight is on balls of both feet Pivot both feet, turning 180 degrees to the right Take a 12” step w/left foot & coordinate arm swing Take a full 24” step w/right foot Arm swing is suspended while executing the pivot “position of attention”

Individual InstructionAFMAN 36-2203, Chap 3 pg 29-31Flanking Movement Command is given as the heel of the direction you wish to go strikes the ground Command MARCH-take one more 24” step Pivot 90 degrees in direction you wish to go (on the ball of the opposite foot) Keep upper portion of body at POA Step off w/foot in new direction of march (24” step) Arm swing is suspended to the sides

(29) Right Step Quick Time • Legs kept straight • Arms remain at side throughout • Raise right leg from hip just enough to clear ground • 12 inches apart from inside of heels • Transfer weight to right foot, bring left foot without scraping the ground smartly alongside the right foot as in the position of attention
