And to the two malls,to ride the penny horses, and the merry-go-round, and to buy neat things at the dollar-store! I took you to see magic “Peter Pan” at the WMU theater, and to your first movie! I took you to our playground a whole lot, where you played with “the little kids,” and built a real snow man! We had lots of fun! I took you to the doctor, to speech therapy at KCMS,and to kinder at Kazoo! I took you to McDonald’s –I didn’t know the food was bad, and to eat “a piece of fish” at Long John Silver’s, which you loved! I took you to ride your tricycle around our apartments, on Whites Road and on Lilac Lane, andyou taught me to play Hop Scotch! We watched The Fox and the Hound, and zillions of tapes!   26. I sent you this before I came back to you and your Mama on Xmas 97! I returned to you, and your wonderful loving Mama, in August 95! We lived in the beautiful Whites Road apartment you so loved! We had a friend, a big chirpy brown squirrel up on a tree! I went away to Miami, in search of work,in January 96, and to Lima, Perú, in May 97! I just couldn’t find any, anywhere, and I missed you so! I really really did!

  27. A lovely birthday greeting for me from Aunt Rebecca in 98! My birthday is January 25th! We spent it together in 98, but only in our hearts! I traveled to Lima to see your big sisters, after eighteen months! They needed me too! If I could’ve, I’d have had them visit us instead!

  28. My precious daughter Erika, your wonderful big sister at 16! She’s Peruvian-American, like you, and grew up in Portland, Oregon! Erika and Tamara graduated from U. of O. on the same day, two years ago! She’s now 27, has a B.A. in Psychology from University of Oregon, and is considering becoming a nurse! erikawoll@yahoo.com

  30. My precious daughter Tamara, your wonderful big sister at 17! She’s Peruvian-American, like you, and grew up in Portland, Oregon! Erika and Tamara graduated from U. of O. on the same day two years ago!   33. A love letter to my Daddy! And I kept all your presents, never fear! Nothing else can compare! I know you loved me, my little Cuculí! I loved you too, and in exactly the same way! I still do!

  35. Her resourcefulness for yet another present for Daddy at two! Your clever choice of ready and beautiful wrapping paper and tie! You sure knew how to steal a Daddy’s heart! You have it still!

  36. Great Artwork for inside the package! You did really well at staying within the lines! I put this away so carefully, I hadn’t taken a good look at it since then!

  37. And a pillow for dollyjust in case! You had very good fine motor skills for any baby! It cushioned what’s coming, your wonderful present I’ll never give up!

  38. And greater artwork still! What a present! I think the one on the left, of course! I want that one most of all! Which doll is cuter? It’s hard to tell! But I’m biased, I must admit!

  39. And Presto Chango! Her wonderful packaged present to me at two! You thought of it and wrapped it all by yourself! And then we opened it together, but I couldn’t wrap it anew as well as you! And I still have it in my big black heavy briefcase you used to love to explore!

  40. Her amazing mother hen with chick! An artist already, at Nature Center Pre-School! Can you see the beaks pointing right? You also gave me this most delicate, colorful, beautiful, work! It clearly shows a mother’s love!

  41. Colorful curlies to make things with! You taught me how to make clever shapes and beautiful thingswith these colorful curlies you gave me! And I still have them in my briefcase with other things you used to play with!

  42. Oh what talent runs in her blood! It runs in your blood, on both sides! You come from artists, musicians, dancers, and singers, doctors, psychlogists,and engineers! Hope Everlasting! A Nature Center Pre-School work of art you lovingly gave me, which I will proudly keep forever!

  43. Treasures in my wallet! My beautiful little Chloe Rose cutout you made and colored for me! My wonderful Smiley and Cowabunga Dude stickers you gave me! They’re stuck! The movie tickets of when we went to your first movie, a wonderful Chinese cartoon saga! The Lucky Ducks toy I bought for you, which delighted you!

  44. A fraction of our Peruvian family! They’re waiting to meet you, and some day they will! Lucky them, that’s what I’ll say! And happy us, that’s what we’ll feel! Your abuelo and abuela, granpa and granma Your loving Daddy Enrique

My sweet... giving... patient... trusting... courageous... beautiful... intelligent... creative... profound... honorable... loving... innocent... and precious little daughter Chloe-Rose, my dainty and talented ballerina, my angel, worthy sister of like sisters, whom I have loved “more than the whole huge universe!”, in our times of milk and honey, amidst a cruel society, and always will!...
